Why Join Us
Running is a sociable pastime. Lymm has many athletes of all interests and abilities; ultrarunners, triathletes, marathoners, fitness joggers and fun runners. All enjoying the simple pleasure of running.
Lymm needs its own running club, the numbers of runners you see when you are out around the district testifies to this fact. It’s better when you run with a group. Consider these points:
- Safety in numbers
- Stay motivated
- More socialable
- Get led around and explore new run routes
- Travelling and racing together
- Opens the door to bigger events such as relay and team races
- Learn from more experience runners
- Coaching sessions
- it all adds to the enjoyment.
Establishing a club locally will give many people the chance to meet other runners and establish training/racing partners. We can organise several weekly group training runs of all distances and paces to cater for all levels. By affiliating to UK Athletics the club will benefit from being a formalised club with insurances, race discounts and automatic entries to the London Marathon.
There are many other reasons why establishing a local club would be a fun thing to do: our own races, training camps and racing together in club colours to name a few. This is all in the future, hopefully the near future. First, we need to establish a core membership and lets see where it takes us.
Join us and spread the word.
See you out running
Chris
Hi I have been running now for a five weeks and am loving it. Do you have to be at a certain level/speed to be able to join you on a run. I have been avg between 10/11 min miles depending on distance etc… I am running 3 times a week, my short route has been 2.6 to my longest route of 4.8. I have never gone beyond that.
Cheers
Linzi
Hi Linzi
Try to come along on a Thursday next week and experience the benefits of running with a group. We had a really good bunch out last night and I am sure you will be OK based on those figures.
Look forwrd to seeing you then.
Regards
Chris
We think the yellow running kit is the most attractive and eye catching and it would be our choice for the club colours. It is also of course ‘High Vis’ which is important for runners safety, particularly when running along roads, paths, tracks and so on. Go Yellow – Be bold!
We intend to join the club when we get back to Lymm but we are currently in New Zealand.
Cheers
Mary & Pete
Great choice of colour (my favourite but don’t tell anyone!). See you when you get back from down under.
